There is a Name above every name…
Mark 1:43-45
41 Moved with compassion,[i] Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” 42 Instantly the leprosy disappeared, and the man was healed.
See how willing God is to heal us from our diseases! When we ask with humble and willing hearts, He will be moved with compassion. That is who God is! He will reach out to you the moment you surrender to Him. He will touch you without disgust. It does not matter how terrible our sin is or how incurable our disease is, as long as Jesus is willing He will heal! He has the power to take away our guilt and shame. Submit in whatever His will is in our lives, submit even to the process. We must be in the position of humility because we can’t get His grace until we are willing to bring ourselves in His submission.
43 Then Jesus sent him on his way with a stern warning: 44 “Don’t tell anyone about this. Instead, go to the priest and let him examine you. Take along the offering required in the law of Moses for those who have been healed of leprosy.[j] This will be a public testimony that you have been cleansed.”
45 But the man went and spread the word, proclaiming to everyone what had happened. As a result, large crowds soon surrounded Jesus, and he couldn’t publicly enter a town anywhere. He had to stay out in the secluded places, but people from everywhere kept coming to him.
From the very beginning, Jesus knew that despite of his strong warning to the leper not to tell about what had happened, the leper would still proclaim. Jesus knew that we will still struggle with the remnants of sin but He still healed us anyway and if Jesus touched us and healed us we can’t contain the joy of it. Each of us has an issue or issues to deal with. Face them with such courage and faith bearing in mind that whatever name your issue is, there is a Name above that name – and that Name is JESUS!
The leper could have been staying in lonely places for years, apart from his loved ones and it must be really depressing for him. Jesus did not just healed the leper but he took his place “when He had to stay out in the secluded places.” I believe that Jesus did not just heal my issue but He also took my place. He became sin, He who knew no sin and never sinned, to be the offering for my sin, so that I could be made right with God through Christ.
He became sin, he who knew no sin and never sinned, to be the offering for my sin, so that I could be made right with God through Christ.
God is the only one who simultaneously knows what I need and is who I need. My God is the God who is familiar with my deepest secrets and knows my most intimate issues and has still made the decision to love me on my worst days, in my failures and my flaws. He knew that I need a God who will choose me not just despite my flaws but because of my flaws cause all things to work together for my good according to his purpose. He is the God who will make my weaknesses His strength.
