Perfect
We always dream ofperfection. Perfect family, perfect friends, perfect partner, and perfect life.
Is it because we just wanted to cover our imperfections?
Perfection is wholeness,
entireness, and intactness. It is not lacking or faulty in any way. Perfect implies
the soundness and the excellence of every part, element or quality of a thing
frequently as an unattainable or
theoretical state. According to Merriam-Webster, perfectness is being entirely
without flaws or defect; having all the qualities you want in that kind of
person, situation, etc. That is a wow
definition, right? I mean, can you think of anyone or anything perfect? Is it
really existing?
And when we fail to see
perfection in things, we start singing Simple Plan’s Perfect:
“Cause we lost it all,
nothing lasts forever..
I’m sorry I can’t be
perfect.”
Relate?
We were taught to believe
that perfect is just a fancy dream. Also, it covers our weaknesses by saying
“Nobody’s perfect.” But I believe, perfection is attainable. How?
“Be ye therefore perfect,
even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” Matthew 5:48
Don’t believe in perfect
love? All you have seen in your whole life is brokenness: broken relationships,
broken hearts everywhere. Here’s a word
for you.
18 “There is no fear in
love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he
who fears has not been made perfect in love.” 1 John 14:8
14 “But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of
perfection.” Colossians 3:14
Of course, perfection
starts in the way we think.. If we believe we can’t then surely what do you
think would happen? If we dare to soak in what is true and pure (I am
pertaining to the Word of God) there is renewal of the mind and of the soul..
7 “The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul…” – Psalm 19:7
Only then, can we
have a full grasp of the will of God in our lives.. Meaning, His will is good,
His will is acceptable, and His will is PERFECT.
And do not be
conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that
you may prove what is that
good and acceptable and perfect will of God. – Romans 12:1-2
But of course, perfection doesn’t come
in a snap. It is always carefully molded through a process. That’s when we
learn patience is perfection.
4 But let patience
have its perfect
work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. – James 1:4
I believe perfection can
only be found in the only who’s perfect and the true author of perfection, and
in Him we can also be perfected.
5 “So also Christ did
not glorify Himself to become High Priest, but it was He who
said to Him:
7 who, in the days of
His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement
cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard
because of His godly fear, 8 though He was a Son, yet He
learned obedience by the things which He suffered. 9 And
having been perfected, He became the
author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, 10 called
by God as High Priest…“
Let us continue to dream
of perfection and act upon it. Not for our selfish ambitions but for the Glory
of our God 🙂
